The Melancholia are harder driving blues, blues rock and rock Tele pickups. Alnico IV is a rarely used magnet in Tele pickups but it’s utilized here to create something special, delivering a more balanced frequency response and, thereby, an exceptional dynamic range. The vintage wind is punchier and has just a slight accentuation in the mids. With light picking they sound smooth, clean and sweet. Dig in and you get a more aggressive Tele tone. Still capable of twang the strength of the Melancholia pickups is in being able to drive your amp harder and easier for blues and rock without the exaggerated frequencies that can often plague hotter Tele pickups.
