The Revel ‘Mojo’ Strat P-90 pickups are a unique and versatile combination of vintage Strat and P-90 pickups. They are, very literally (and usually surprisingly), truly P90’ish in character. I say they’re 50/50 but the tone is in the ear of the beholder. The tone is also in the amp and the style of the player.
The Mojo’s are made to cover a wider variety of tone-scapes. They can be sweet and chimey, they quack in the 2 & 4 positions, but they are also raunchy, grinding, barking, mid-accentuated P-90’s. Set them low for a little more vintage Strat character or raise them up to warm them up and make them really growl. The screws are adjustable for the best of all worlds in string balance. A single Mojo is an excellent choice for a bridge pickup to fix an icy bridge or to make your Strat really rock without losing the beauty of a single coil pickup. Likewise a single Mojo can be used in the middle position to give you several additional tonal options on a five-way switch. Or use one in the neck if you need something rowdy for lead or rhythm.
The Mojo’s can cover a lot of territory. Played politely they can cover country, the blues, and funk. A little gain makes them great for Texas and heavier blues, classic rock and rock. Heavy gain propels them into modern rock, prog rock, sludge and drone.

A NOTE ABOUT SOUND CLIPS:
Corporate marketing hype has made it mostly necessary to include sound clips and resistance specifications. Both have very limited meaning and are, in many ways, lies. The best player can make the lousiest guitar loaded with the cheapest pickups played through the lamest amp sound downright amazing. For that reason I feel that clips are misleading. Clips let you hear almost everything except the pickup and primarily the amp in a controlled environment that’s not readily reproducible. Please take these thoughts into consideration.

Put the Mojos on my alder S with rosewood neck. It now out-Strats my other Strats, out-Teles my other Teles, and my P-90 LesPaul Specials are gathering dust. It sounds like a Strat should, dynamic, deep, warm, woody, and the twang is there when you want it. Turn it up, and they howl and growl. I had to put my guitar down to write this review…

I threw a set of these in my solid rosewood strat looking for more rumble. Holy crap! Not only are they more dynamic and full sounding, but they also still have that strat like quality in the 2 & 4 position, but with a p90 like warmth. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone looking for bigger sound out of their strat.

First, they are actually P90 like, and I was surprised. Second, they rock! Third, they are those things and are also really smooth Strat pickups. I wanted something a little less ‘shiny’ and a little more ballsy and these were exactly what I wanted. I’ll be ordering more Revel pickups.
