The Revel O.G. P.A.F. is the pickup that started it all. Based on the best of the vintage 50’s Gibson P.A.F. pickups, they differ with the improvements of standardization and offset precision. The O.G. coils are wound with a more drastic offset of 42 AWG plain enamel wire on U.S.A. made Butyrate bobbins. They are clear, articulate, and vintage in tone. The lower output lends itself to exceptional expression and dynamics compared to other humbuckers. And as the clips show, they do not suffer from an inability to rock.
Stock these are built with rough cast Alnico II magnets. Alnico III is offered as an alternative for the neck pickup, making it brighter with a piano like openness and chime. The added clarity of the Alnico III is ideal for a variety of styles that benefit from clarity and percussion, such as Jazz or heavy fuzz. Played clean the O.G. sings. Played dirty it is smooth. Wonderful note separation and tonal complexity.
When choosing potting options please note that FULL potting is the stock and recommended option. LIGHT potting is a brief wax encapsulation that insulated parts from each other to mitigate squeal but will allow the pickups to feedback more easily. NO potting comes with an expectation that feedback will accompany gain.

First of all, when you send an inquiry Sunday night at 9:15pm and get a response from the owner himself in 15 minutes you know you are dealing with someone who is passionate about their craft.
I was looking for a custom PUP and with minimal back-and-forth Jesse aimed me to a modified OG. I installed it in my Les Paul and this pickup really brings out the personality in the instrument. Dynamic, smooth and allows you to hammer out a rhythm riff anywhere on the fretboard.
I highly recommend Revel. Good product, good price and good turn around time.

Just installed one of these in the neck position of my Tele and I couldn’t be happier. This was my first time purchasing pickups and Jesse made the process so much easier and more fun. This pickup is rich sounding with a ton of personality. With a bit of dirt it is raunchy and soulful, out of a clean amp, it’s buttery and refined. Like a good tube amp, this pickup is super dynamic and responds to your playing.

Hard to not sound like I’m using hyperbole when describing these pickups. It’s that tone that you know the second that you hear is what you have been looking for.
I’ve played through almost every boutique pickup you have heard of and I am now switching them all out for Revels (these replaced Duncan Antiquities).
If I can pass one one thing about these pickups, it is the even tone from top to bottom. Revel really knows what a pickup can do for a guitar’s tone and he tweaks every aspect to maximize the investment you’ve put into not just the pickups, but your guitar as well.
His return policy is second to none, so there is no reason to not see for yourself.
P.S. I opted for the Peter Green mod and it is awesome!
