The Revel ‘De Novo’ P.A.F. is built with offset coils of Plain Enamel wire wound on ABS bobbins and married to rough cast Alnico V for touch sensitivity, harmonic overtones, and good string definition.
Brighter with more mids than the O.G. P.A.F., the De Novo’s are still decidedly a vintage humbucker excellent for genres like blues and rock but with an aggressive nudge that makes them great for heavier styles like hard rock and alternative. Or maybe you just prefer a humbucker that will push the amp towards the edge of breakup or are often in the mood to slather on the fuzz while still wanting to hear all the strings and every note with clarity and definition.

I love humbucking pickups. I’ve tried all types and makes.So when my friend said he was using these, and they sounded great, I just had to try them . My friend and I have gone through all the humbuckers that are currently on the market as well as a few that aren’t. I have original 59 PAFs as well as many others. So recently I started a new build and was going put my originals on it. Suffice it to say the Revel pickup’s are in the guitar now and it’s my no 1. So what about all my other pickups all the popular brands and models? Well, they are all relegated to the spare pickup bin. These Revel pickup’s sound like the best set of double white PAFs I ever had. The overtones are great and do they ever have balls. So I had to have them in this guitar. I would recommend Revel pickup’s to anyone who is looking for vintage tone with the kick of a great hot PAF. Just Sayin !!!
