The Revel Sweet ’69 Strat Pickups are a mid to late 60’s set that can best be described as bright and punchy with hollow mids and vintage output. They fit perfectly between the bright and glassy Vintage 50’s and the heavier Victor and Scoundrel sets and, so,  are the perfect Strat pickups to cover a very wide range of tones and musical styles.

The Sweet 69’s cover low to mid gain blues, country, pop, funk, indie, classic rock, and more. The bass is warm but not overpowering, the mids are woody, and the highs snap without being shrill.

Built with Alnico V magnets and wound with 42 AWG Plain Enamel wire. RW/RP or NOT, by request.

Bridge 6.2k, Middle 5.8k, Neck 5.8k

Revel Strat pickups are constructed true to vintage methods. There’s obviously something special about the best of these classic pickups and we feel it’s worth preserving.

Every magnet is weighed for consistency and, if the pickup uses a beveled magnet, they are hand-beveled. The magnets are then individually pressed into the flat work and the assembly cleaned. The assembled bobbin is then dipped in lacquer and left to dry. This dipping bonds the magnets and flat work together and helps to protect the pickup for many years of use.

The magnets are then wrapped with a special paper tape to further protect the assembly and assure its longevity. We build our pickups to last forever. Then the pickup is scatterwound/hand-wound with a particular wire of particular gauge chosen to produce the exact tone of the pickup in question. All of our Stratocaster replacement pickups are wound by hand.

The leads are then attached and the resistance and inductance are measured and the pickup is potted in pure paraffin wax. This is the one slight difference between the vintage method and ours. Simple paraffin is better and so we use it exclusively. The pickups is then measured again and the coil wrapped in tape for further protection. Finally the pickup is put into a test guitar to qualify it.

I ordered these knowing I was going to get something special. You kind of know that when you read Jesse’s website. So, after his personalized consulting over what I wanted for the music I play and what guitar they were going into, we decided on the Sweet 69’s. When these arrived, I got to it, pulled out the soldering iron and installed them. Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to play until the next day and when I picked up my Strat the 69’s were in…lo, the angels sang. Wow! I could not believe the sound. These are everything you think you want in a Strat sound…but so, so much more. Chime. Yes. Quack. Yes. Mids. Yes. But there is a beautiful richness to the sound that I can’t describe in words. But the overall sound quality of these pickups is something I honestly couldn’t have imagined–pure magic. And I don’t want to put the guitar down. I love my Fender pickups in my other Strats–Vintage 65’s, Texas Specials, Tex-Mex. But these Sweet 69’s are just beyond those.

If you’re hesitating because of the money–don’t. If you’re wondering if they’ll be really good–they will be. Buy ’em. They kick ass.

I installed these into the neck and middle positions of my brother’s Strat, and they exceeded my expectations. They are full-sounding while retaining that iconic “strat” tone. Great job.

I needed a set of pickups for a special project guitar, and Jesse took the time to answer all of my questions. In the end, he recommended a set of these, and they were absolutely what I was looking for. Great pickups!

Received my new Sweet 69’s on Monday, installed them that night and have put in about 4 hours playing since. I think I have the height just about dialed in, maybe some tweaking remains.

First off, what a beautiful set. Really artful, and they sound brilliant. Thank you so much for your help and craftsmanship!

They keep the spirit of the guitar intact while elevating it to a new level. They sound great on their own and need very little processing to get a good tone, just the amp and some reverb or delay and they sing. Add some OD and they rumble.

They have a lot of warmth and bottom end to them, which I was hoping for. In fact, the .047uf tone cap I have is probably too dark now and I think I’ll swap it out with .022uf at some point, but at the moment I really don’t need to use the tone pot much as these sound great without it.

I’m especially impressed by the balance between strings. The old ’74 pickups (46 years old now) always made the G string clang a bit too much. I didn’t realize the staggered poles were such a problem, given that this guitar’s neck has a 9.5″ radius, but these solve that nicely. I’ve had the instrument since 1978 and it has never sounded this good.

Thank you again! Happy to have the first Strat set from your new shop. Good luck with that.

I will definitely recommend your pickups to my friends and, when I put together the Telecaster I’m planning, I will come to you to outfit that.

    Best wishes.

These pickups are ridiculous. I have played every strat pickup and these are, hand down, the best I’ve ever heard.

Jesse will spend time talking to you and trying to gauge through words the sounds in your head. Very straightforward, no bull***t, and timely if you need him to be. Also very reasonable prices and will work with you until you get what you want. I recommend him to everyone that will listen.
