Wee Range Humbucker

LEAD TIME AS OF 2/4/24: 6 TO 8 WEEKS

$140.00

  • P.A.F. Sized
  • 50mm & 52mm Spacing
  • 2 or 4 Wire Lead For Coil Splitting
  • Bridge: 8.5k, Neck: 7.5k

The Wee Range is anything but small. Similar to the Vintage ’72 in appearance and tone the Wee Range humbucker is both lower output and slightly heavier than the Vintage ’72. Being smaller in stature it cannot use the large coils of the traditional WRHB. But it does use the threaded magnet and Alnico V combination we build the Vintage 72’s with. It is both clear and full with smooth high frequencies.

The Wee Range can be split to produce a very satisfying single coil tone (with lower output, of course) that is spanky, chimey and sparkling.

These are ideal replacements for the Fender Shawbucker and go in the opposite direction tonally.

P.A.F. sized these fit into a standard humbucker route.

Available in F-spacing (52mm bridge and 50mm neck) or Gibson (50mm bridge and neck).

Bridge: 8.5k, Neck: 7.5k

A NOTE ABOUT SOUND CLIPS:

Corporate marketing hype has made it mostly necessary to include sound clips and resistance specifications. Both have very limited meaning and are, in many ways, lies. The best player can make the lousiest guitar loaded with the cheapest pickups played through the lamest amp sound downright amazing. For that reason I feel that clips are misleading. Clips let you hear almost everything except the pickup and primarily the amp in a controlled environment that’s not readily reproducible. Please take these thoughts into consideration.

The Revel Post Modern Jazzmaster pickup is insanely rich and crisp at the same time. PAF tone in a jazzmaster! Perfect!

These may be the perfect pickup quite honestly. I installed them in my Kauer KR2 which always had a 72 thinline deluxe vibe to me. I have played originals but it’s been some years, and I know it’s apples and oranges because of the smaller paf size, but wow. All the attack and clarity you want out of a Tele, but with a deeper (not at all muddy) bottom end and no trace of ice pick on the highs. Nice balanced mids without getting honky like a PAF or P-90, it really is the best of all worlds in my opinion. And of course Jesse was phenomenal as always, faster turn around than quoted and answered all my annoying questions with grace. This is my 2nd set of Revel’s, it won’t be my last.

Though I had purchased the Wee Range pickups in January of 2019 (what seems lime a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…), I didn’t get around to installing them until September 2020 for… reasons?

I bought a Squier “Vintage Modified” Tele custom neck and body from a friend that had all the hardware, but no electronics, and I wanted to fix it up to resemble a ’72 Tele, which would normally feature the classic-style Wide Range humbuckers. Jesse offers the Wee Range, a PAF-sized version of those old humbuckers that are true drop-in replacements for any humbucker routs.

This set makes the guitar better than it has any right to be. I am flabbergasted at the clarity and articulation of the pups, each with a round bottom end, balanced mids, and crystalline highs…

… and that bridge pickup… it’s got a great single coil Tele tone with none of the hum. Jesse has mastered building a humbucker with a true single coil vibe, and somewhere out there, Seth Lover is damn proud.

I ordered the splittable iteration of the Wee Range, and if you dog jangle, THEN WE GOT YOU.

Jesse’s customer service is beyond reproach. I am terrible at wiring and Jesse responded to my emails in a really timely fashion, and made sure I was up and running.

You’re going to love these… really. Definitely doing business with Jesse again.

I am loving these pups in my tele (the brown one was mine but now these are in a different body). They sound Wide Range territory to me–crunchy slightly compressed HB sound with more single coil “openness” clarity and chime. If I had a one-pickup guitar, I think I’d be satisfied with one of these on the bridge.
They do sound very cool split, very fun with various effects (reverb, vibrato).
And finally, Jesse is the man. So gracious and clearly committed to the customer’s goals and satisfaction. He even helped me sort out my wiring issues- due to my poor soldering skills and electrical knowledge. I hope to work with him again

Put these in my SG that previously had stock gibson pickups, which were not bad, but pretty bland. I had Jesse build these based on numerous wandering conversations where I provided no tangible sense of what I was looking for. Somehow he was able to turn that into exactly what I was looking for. A pickup with a ton of character. Almost a humbucker with the heart of a single-coil in sound. I love dynamics and tones in all ranges. Really nailed it – very glad I hit him up to make some badass pickups. Thanks Jesse!

I wanted something different in pickups to put in my first custom designed guitar I built and I made a great choice with these Wee Range pickups. I am getting so many different sounds all the way from AC/DC to great Strat sounds by splitting the coils on both pickups.
I went sight unseen and sound unheard when I purchased these pickups and have no regrets at all. Keep up the good work Jesse!
