The Revel Jazz Bass Humbucker P-90 (otherwise known as the ‘Mojo’) pickups are built with handwound side by side coils but, unlike our more traditional JB pickups which are built with rod magnets, these are built like an actual P-90. They have adjustable screws and dual magnets below the coil. Compared to to our linear humbucking JB pickup they exhibit even tighter lows, are a bit brighter, and have a mid hump characteristic of a P-90. Likewise they have a distinct growl. They are thick, punchy, middy and add a growl when a growl is necessary.

I’ve reviewed before and wanted to update my review. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out how to do that, so I’m writing a second. I’ve had these for about 3 months now and through this time, these P90’s have become my favorite jazz pickup. I’ve come to love them so much, these have been moved/installed in my main gig jazz bass. These pups thump! The tone is a hybrid of jazz, precision, & P90 (60% jazz, 20% precision, 20% P90). I prefer the ergonomics of the jazz bass, but the standard jazz pups tend lack that midrange, warm darkness that is characteristic of the precision sound. With these pickups, you get the best of both worlds AND the added bonus of that P90 tone (crisp & clear w/a hint of overdrive). I commonly recommend these pickups not only to friends, but to other bass players via online groups/forums. These pickups are incredible!!!!

I’m a huge P90 fan and I previously believed that I’d have to reroute my jazz in order to install P90 pickups. It wasn’t until I stumbled across Revel that I learned that P90 jazz pickups were an actual thing. No one else makes these! Given that this was my first buy with Revel, I was apprehensive about the wait time. Totally worth it! If you’re looking to add more bite and body to your Jbass, you can’t go wrong with these pickups!

Got a set of the Mojo Linear Humbuckers for my custom J-bass. They sound clear and strong, with plenty of output. The bass they were put in is for playing in a black metal/punk band, and these things really gave the instrument the needed juice to come through in the mix. I look forward to upgrading more pickups with Revels.
